Rooted in Rights, Rising with Communities

Addressing issues of equal and equitable share of the marginalised communities in natural resources

Welcome!

Vikalp Social Organisation, founded in 1979 in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, empowers forest-dependent communities—tribals, pastoralists and marginalised groups—by advancing their rights over natural resources. Rooted in Constitutional values and the Forest Rights Act, it builds women-led, community-governed institutions that promote sustainable livelihoods, ecological justice and social transformation across India’s forested regions.

Key Issues We Work On

__________

Natural Resource

Community-driven ownership and responsible management of natural resource empower sustainable livelihoods, ensuring equity, resilience and long-term environmental stewardship.

___________

Women Empowerment

Empowering women through education, opportunity, and inclusive leadership builds resilient communities, fosters equality and drives sustainable development and social change.

__________

Capacity Building

Building skills and awareness among women and youth to claim their rights, manage local resources and establish thriving women and youth led businesses, enterprises and ventures.

Community Member Speaks

“Vikalp provideed me, and many other dwellers, file our claims under Forest Right Act, without selfless.
Service of Vikalp workers we would not have been able to file the claims.”
